Holly Salmon, John L. and Susan K. Gardner Director of Conservation, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
Isabella Stewart Gardner famously wrote in her will that the museum she built, and the collection she arranged within it, should remain, "for the education and enjoyment of the public forever." Over the past 25 years, the Gardner conservation staff has undertaken a holistic approach to gallery restorations, considering every aspect of Gardner's original vision. This talk will examine some of these projects, the beautiful results and a few of the exciting discoveries made along the way.
